A switch is not enough for many households. Nintendo revealed in a Q & A with investors who, the year of March 31, about 20% of the commutation units were sold to households who already have one. It works at about 5.8 million consoles, as Gamasutra.

There are some possible reasons for that. The pandemic, of course, led to more people playing video games last year, so that families could have played the tastes of Mario Kart Live: home circuit together on separate consoles. Some people bought a Lite switch to use only as a machine on both the machine, while their standard switch remains moored. And perhaps, just maybe some people bought a second expensive switch to solve joy-cont drift problems.

“In the future, we expect the demand for multiple household systems to increase, even if the sale of material units increases,” said President Nintendo Shuntaro Furukawa on the call. “By region, significant sales growth continues in Asia and we believe there is still a place for sufficient growth in Europe and the United States, given the size of these populations.”

It will be interesting to see how much this percentage changes over the next year with the pandemic has finally relaxed. Nintendo is also widely planned to release a more powerful switch this year and many power switches owners are likely to upgrade.

Elsewhere, crossing animals: new horizons, in addition to being a huge shot in its own right, invited to change newcomers to try other Nintendo key franchises such as Zelda and Mario, according to Furukawa. He also noted that Nintendo still treated shortages and production problems with the switch, he said is in the middle of his life cycle. Furukawa added that shipments in Europe were also delayed by blocking the Suez Canal.
