Razer Anzu Reviews: Smart glasses that are almost great

Straws with stakeholders built in their arms become one thing. Bose and Amazon have published hybrid glasses helmets in recent years – the two appointed frames. Now, Razer associates with Smart Anzu glasses. Like Bose and Amazon frames, it’s basically a pair of glasses with loudspeakers who play audio without blocking the rest of the world. But the Razer device has some unique features. As it is a brand known for its gaming products, it is not surprising that Razer offers a “game mode” for its weak latency sound. It also has blue-light filter lenses by default and costs $ 50 less than echo frames and bose frames. Are these features sufficiently to define the latest razer portable device with the exception of the rest?

Design

At first glance, it is difficult to tell Razer Anzu and echo executives apart. I chose the “Rectangle Design” version of the Anzu and it is very similar to the appearance of the Amazon device. They both have slightly oversized rounded rectangulated lenses. But on a closer inspection, you will notice some differences.

One – Anzu has larger modules on his arms, which ends up making them less comfortable for all day wear than echo executives. The Razer device also has two load ports – one on each arm. And while the Amazon laptop has dedicated volume buttons and an action key in addition to a touch panel on the right arm, the anzu has no physical buttons at all. The front section of both arms offers key-sensitive commands.

Like echo frames, the small / middle razer anzu is suitable for my face quite wide, and it is also noted IPX4 for water resistance. But unlike Amazon, Razer offers a larger size. Anzu also offers springser hinges than Amazon, which helps it not only to host larger heads, but also makes it less likely to break. I like more square glasses, but those who prefer that something more breeding can choose to get anzu in the “round design”. Currently, it is available only in black, while the echo frames arrive in three colors.

Configuration and tactile controls

There are two ways to configure the Anzu Razer. You can link them directly to your laptop or phone directly via your Bluetooth settings or use the company’s mobile application. If you go a direct way to treat them as a pair of Bluetooth headsets, the process is relatively painless. Just make sure the arms of the anzu are unfolded, which transforms them on and triggers the pairing mode. Once you have linked them, say, your laptop, you will need to manually disconnect them every time you want to switch to another device. To turn off the glasses, you have come to fold your arms.

Things are complicated a little more if you choose to use the application. After finding and coupled the Anzu on Razer’s Android app on my pixel 4a, I was surprised when the music I played later did not come out glasses. I still had to manually enter the Bluetooth settings on my phone to connect the Anzu for the audio output.

It is a relatively minor disadvantage, however, compared to my biggest problem with the smart glasses of Razer: the control gesture. A tutorial in the app will walk through all the available tactile gestures, allowing you to try each function and choose what they do. Anzu can recognize – excuse me, is supposed to recognize – a single press, double tap, triple tap, long and triple faucet support with long pressure at the end. But it is important to note that the Anzu will only recognize a press, not a faucet.
