Late last year, Biden showed a target for his government that, in the moment, seemed almost impossible to reach: administering 100 million COVID-19 vaccine doses in his first 100 days in office.  The vaccination attempt took off, nevertheless, as well as the Biden government ended up reaching the target well ahead of schedule.  Not satisfied with this accomplishment, President Biden revised the target by 100 million to 200 million doses within his first 100 days.

On April 22, President Biden formally declared that the US attained his government’s 200 million doses target over his first 100 days as president.  Although the pandemic remains far from over, this marks a substantial landmark for the US as most nations start to loosen restrictions on parties.

The US has reported millions of vaccinations every day within the last few weeks also, as of this morning, over 218 million COVID-19 vaccine doses are administered in the United States.  Nearly all COVID-19 vaccines administered in the United States are Pfizer and Moderna products, which need two shots to be completely vaccinated.

When digging into the numbers, almost 136 million people in the united states have obtained a minimum of one dose of these vaccines as a little more than 89 million people have obtained both doses and therefore are considered fully vaccinated.  The CDC regularly publishes updated amounts on its COVID-19 Data Tracker site here.

In his statement about the vaccination numbers, President Biden said:

“Make no mistake: This is an American achievement. It’s a powerful demonstration of unity and resolve. And a reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together in pursuit of a common goal.”
