Decades ago, the name of Abarth was more than a high-end trim level on some Fiat cars. In the 1950s and 1960s, Abarth was the name of some of the most winning racing cars in Europe who ran with various Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Porsche engines. These engines were stuffed under the hood of vehicles using hand-trained light body panels.

The Abarth 1000 SP Roadster is a re-imagined version of 1000 sp of racing. Although the vehicle has been officially announced, there is no details on this available. We know it uses a carbon fiber chassis bathtub, a rear suspension of the MacPherson force leg and a four-cylinder turbo engine at mid-height that earn 237 horses.

Although it is not called, it certainly sounds like the vehicle started life as an example of Alfa Romeo 4C 4C Alfa Romeo 4C spider now. The resemblance between the original 1000 SP and the new Roadster Abarth 1000 SP is clearly visible in the image, the two cars sitting side by side in a garage seen in the gallery below.

What is worth noting for those who have never seen the 4C in person is that the car is extremely small. The fact that it is solid compared to the race car of 1000 SP shows how much the classic vehicle is actually small. The ABARTH 1000 SP Roadster uses modern projector headlights to recall the parking lights of the original race car. The hood has large horizontal slits realizing one of the most notable design signals of the original race car.

The Roadster Abarth 1000 SP also has a hoop of black rollers behind the seats that look a lot like that of the classic runner. Unfortunately, the chances of production of any type for the Abarth 1000 SP Roadster is nonexistent since the car of the donor 4C is output of production in 2020.
